My interview with a Chicago Digital Marketing Superstar on ways to take advantage of the increase in Digital & Social Engagement.

To better understand how my clients can take advantage of all the digital engagement right now, I decided to chat with a digital marketing pro, Rachel Imiak, who is a Digital Marketing Supervisor @ a Global Ad Agency.

Rachel has worked with major Auto, Pharma, Wellness, and Banking clients over the last 6 years at some of the top Agency's in the world. If anyone knows what's hot and trending right now, it’s Rachel. Here is her take on taking advantage of everything digital right now.

Instead of continuing down the road of potential failure, take advantage of everything digital during this time. Everyone is home with some extra time on their hands, lets hang out with them and communicate with them as much as we can.

Some great ways to reach your audience are:

Podcasts- listeners have gone to an all-time high and every music streaming service now contains podcasts. Companies are finding unique opportunities to host their own podcasts and advertise with trusted talk hosts. This gives you a chance to speak on topics related to your business or general values to create a personal connection to your audience.

News- With the constant flow of news articles, now is a good time to buy space on news sites "digital inventory" and directly address issues happening surrounded by credible news content. If your messaging is in a credible news site and your target market is seeing it, your credibility will increase and you will be present in relevant conversations.

Change your message: Right now, people are unsure of their stability in their jobs and who knows where the market will be in a few weeks. Instead of trying to get people to spend, work on building a strong relationship so when all of this passes you now have a connection and future loyal customers. Great environments to do this are through social media where you can have those real conversations by responding to tweets or posting blogs on Facebook to show your support and relatability during these times.

Digital Video: Date night is movie night. How can we get in front of people in front of their "big screens?" Utilize advertising on large or small steaming services that allow advertising especially now that subscribers have increased during our age of cord-cutters. (Another route to save money and not spend large amounts on TV, is to retarget consumers on their digital devices who have been exposed to certain advertisements (this can be done with programmatic partners/DSPs).

As I end my discussion with Rachel, I realize these simple pointers are priceless in times like these. It's always good to know someone who knows about smart spend in the Digital world.
